Congratulations FHS Press!
Congratulations to Mr. Aaron Fitzpatrick, Ms. Grace Hutchison, and the student-staff of the FHS Press!
The American Scholastic Press Association’s Scholastic Newspaper Awards for 2015 were announced last evening. Our high school newspaper, The FHS Press, was recognized as a National First Place winner for Senior High Schools with Less than 500 Students! We were one of 10 school newspapers from across the country to be recognized as First Place Winners!
Additionally, Ms. Grace Hutchison, a junior at Freedom Area High School, was recognized for her National Outstanding Editorial. Grace’s editorial, entitled, “Battle of the Sexes: Gender inequality still prevalent issue despite progress,” was recognized as one of four Outstanding Editorials from across the country! Grace wrote this article for the April 2014 issue of the FHS Press as a sophomore on the editorial staff.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Fitzpatrick and his students on this fantastic achievement!
They are yet another example of what makes Freedom great!
